Sexual relations on the Ark-revisited

Just an additional thought re: midrash Genesis Rabbah and the Sages understanding that “monkey business” ( sorry can’t resist) was forbidden on the ark because people outside were dying-is this also an implicit rebuke of Noah and his family for only taking care of “me and mine” while the entire world was in peril? (i.e. not pleading with God to save others)  If that is the case, what might this say about the current debate in our society over our responsiblities one to the other?   (The current debate is, in my opinion, nothing more than a rehash of the “social darwinism” debate of the late 19th century)

(Of course, if we shared this kind of ancient rabbinic material in Sunday school we would probably have better attendance!)
